INTERVIEW WITH WOOSUNG - MOTH SHOWCASE TOUR 2022

After the release of his new EP 'Moth', the singer, musician and songwriter Kim Woosung started his solo tour called Moth Showcase. The artist brought his show to Amsterdam, Paris, London, Cologne, Warsaw and Berlin before starting the U.S leg of the tour.

I had the honour to cover his show in Cologne and I want to express my gratitude to Woosung and Jin, as well as Transparent Arts, for inviting me and being so incredibly nice. Moreover, I had the privilege to interview Woosung, as well as have a little personal chit-chat with him, which allowed me to get to know him better and made the whole experience unforgettable. The way he sees life and the way he expresses himself is truly inspiring.

INTERVIEW

As a singer myself, I really wanted to ask you this. When you started singing, exploring your voice, training, and so on, what was the hardest thing for you? Was there something you couldn't do at first?

Woosung: "I think the hardest thing for me was to control it, to be in control and be able to express what I wanted to express with my voice."

Your music is therapy for us, so I was wondering if there is an artist that feels like therapy for you?

Woosung: "I don't think so. My therapy isn't listening to music but writing music."

And are you listening to any artists at the moment?

Woosung: "No, I am not listening to an specific artist at the moment but I like Billie Eilish, for example."

SHOW TIME

At Die Kantine everyone was anticipating the start of the show, the crowd was passionate and didn't miss the opportunity to cheer on and sing both Woosung and The Rose's songs at any given opportunity.

The moment when the show started was magical, Woosung appearing on the stage while singing 'FACE' made the crowd go crazy. The artist gifted everyone present with his dance skills and beautiful and unique vocals since the very first moment.

During one of his ments, Woosung explained that it was the kind of day where everything goes wrong. Both him and the staff lost their luggage, therefore, he didn't have Britney - his electric guitar - with him. Another problem arised after being in Cologne, when he went out to eat and he almost couldn't pay because his card wasn't working. Notwithstanding, he stated that he was feeling alright thanks to all the love and support that the fans were showering him with. "Being able to be with you here tonight and hearing your beautiful voices makes me happy."

The way Woosung is always so genuine with his fans and opens up about everything that he's feeling and thinking is truly heartwarming and something that all his fans truly appreciate.

Furthermore, since he didn't have his electric guitar with him, he rented another one that didn't work during the show, so in the end he decided to just not play the guitar and even improvised his guitar solo with his mouth, a man full of resources! Truly admirable the way he doesn't let any inconvenience ruin his day nor stop him.

Woosung cares so much about his fans and everyone, he was making sure all the time that everyone was feeling alright, if someone needed water or a moment to go out and take a break, he would stop the song, even if it was in the middle of it, and only start singing again when he was sure that everyone was feeling alright and having fun. Seeing his art live it's breathtaking, he's such a free and beautiful soul and the atmosphere he creates is so magical.

Despite everything, the show was truly amazing and all the fans enjoyed every minute of it. After the show, VIP ticket holders had the opportunity to enjoy a Q&A with Woosung where he answered their questions and doubts.

Después del lanzamiento de su nuevo EP 'Moth', el cantante, músico y compositor Kim Woosung comenzó su gira en solitario 'Moth Showcase'. El artista llevó su espectáculo a Ámsterdam, París, Londres, Colonia, Varsovia y Berlín antes de comenzar la etapa estadounidense de la gira.

Tuve el honor de cubrir su show en Colonia y quiero expresar mi agradecimiento a Woosung y Jin, así como también a Transparent Arts, por invitarme y ser tan increíblemente amables y geniales. Además, tuve el privilegio de entrevistar a Woosung, y también tener una pequeña charla personal con él, lo que me permitió conocerlo mejor e hizo que toda la experiencia fuese aún más inolvidable si cabe. La forma en que él ve la vida y la manera en la que se expresa es verdaderamente inspiradora.

ENTREVISTA

Como cantante, realmente quería hacerte esta pregunta. Cuando comenzaste a cantar, a explorar tu voz, entrenar, etc, ¿qué fue lo más difícil para ti? ¿Hubo algo que no podías hacer al principio?

Woosung: "Creo que lo más difícil para mí fue controlar, tener el control para lograr expresar lo que quería expresar con mi voz.

Tú música es una terapia para nosotros, así que me preguntaba si hay algún artista que sea como una terapia para ti.

Woosung: "No, no lo creo. Mi terapia no es escuchar música, sino escribir música."

¿Y hay algún artista o artistas que estés escuchando últimamente?

Woosung: "No, no estoy escuchando a ningún artista en especifico últimamente, pero me gusta Billie Eilish, por ejemplo."

SHOW TIME

En Die Kantine, todos esperaban el comienzo del espectáculo. La apasionada multitud no perdió la oportunidad de animar y cantar las canciones de Woosung y The Rose en cualquier oportunidad que se les brindaba.

El momento en que comenzó el espectáculo fue mágico, Woosung apareciendo en el escenario mientras cantaba 'FACE' enloqueció a la multitud. El artista obsequió a todos los presentes con sus habilidades de baile y su hermosa y única voz desde el primer momento.

Durante una de sus conversaciones con los fans, Woosung explicó que era el típico día en el que todo sale mal. Tanto él como el personal perdieron su equipaje, por lo tanto, no tenía a Britney, su guitarra eléctrica, con él. Otro problema surgió después de haber llegado ya a Colonia, cuando salió a comer y casi no pudo pagar porque su tarjeta no funcionaba. No obstante, afirmó que se sentía muy bien gracias a todo el amor y el apoyo con el que los fans le estaban obsequiando. "Poder estar con vosotros aquí esta noche y escuchar vuestras voces preciosas me hace feliz".

La forma en que Woosung siempre es tan genuino con sus fans y no le importa abrir su corazón y expresar que siente y piensa es realmente bonito y algo que todos sus fans realmente aprecian.

Además, como no tenía su guitarra eléctrica, alquiló una especialmente para el show pero ésta no funcionó, por lo que al final decidió no tocar la guitarra e incluso improvisó su solo de guitarra con la boca, un hombre lleno de recursos! Es admirable la forma en que no deja que ningún inconveniente arruine su día ni lo detenga.

Woosung se preocupa mucho por sus fans y por todos, durante toda la duración del concierto se estuvo asegurando que todos los presentes estuviesen bien, si alguien necesitaba agua o un momento para salir y tener un descanso, paraba la canción, incluso si estaba a la mitad o recién empezada, y solo empezaba a cantar de nuevo cuando se aseguraba que todos estaban bien y divirtiéndose. Ver su arte en vivo es impresionante, es un alma tan libre y bonita, además la atmósfera que crea es es mágica.

A pesar de todo, el espectáculo fue increíble y todos los fans disfrutaron de cada minuto. Después del espectáculo, los poseedores de entradas VIP tuvieron la oportunidad de disfrutar de una sesión de preguntas y respuestas (Q&A) con Woosung donde éste respondió a sus preguntas y dudas.
